PRESIDENT OF BOARD OF ALDERMAN, VETERANS TO DELIVER REMARKS AT ANNUAL VETERANS DAY CEREMONY
(11/4/2011) The City of New Haven celebrates the contributions of our armed forces.
(NEW HAVEN)- The City of New Haven and the Mayor’s Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee will conduct the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:00am at Center Church on the Green (311 Temple Ave, New Haven). The event commemorates the men and women of our armed forces, recognizing their immense personal courage and sacrifice for our safety and protection. The community is encouraged to come celebrate the lives of the City’s veterans.
Carl Goldfield, President of the Board of Alderman, will deliver remarks on behalf of the City. Major James McLean, a veteran of the Afghanistan conflict, will deliver the keynote address, and Col (Ret) Kenneth Gertz will speak about the upcoming 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Musical selections will be sung by the Unity Boys Choir under the direction of Lillie Perkins. Soloist Lucinda Gall will lead the audience in the singing out of National Anthem. Placement of wreaths at the War Memorial on the New Haven Green and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Long Wharf will follow the ceremony.
